You must have medical insurance during your stay in British Columbia. You must show proof of insurance coverage before starting classes. You can use BC Medical Services Plan if you have a Student Authorization and will be in Vancouver longer than 6 months.. It is $36 per month. You will receive BC Medical Services approximately 3 months after you apply.
Consequently, you must buy private medical insurance for the first three months of your visit. It is best to buy insurance before you leave home. If you prefer, VEC will arrange medical insurance for you. The cost is CAD$60 per month. To have your medical insurance arranged by VEC, you must pay for it when applying for admission. Insurance fees are not refundable. Students are only covered by insurance while they are enrolled in a course at VEC. Your coverage will end no later than 7 days after you leave the school. If you pay for VEC medical insurance, your coverage will automatically begin on your first day of school. If you want your coverage to begin sooner, please inform us when you send your application package.
